This May alone, 43 children were shot, and 4 people were shot by small children — all due to the fact that negligent gun owners left loaded guns accessible to young children. While the NRA has previously stated that children should not be unsupervised around guns, they continue to lobby against laws requiring gun owners to safely store their weapons, and push for laws allowing children as young as 5 to have access to their own guns.

  25. FL 1yo shot by 3yo brother, loaded gun in mom’s car. Expected to survive.

  27. FL 4yo shot in abdomen, condition stable.
  28. CA 12 yo shot in leg when family member drops gun.
  29. AL 13yo DECEASED after gun accidentally goes off.
  30. NC 12yo accidentally shot by 8yo brother, with shotgun found on property. No charges expected.
  31. MT 15yo shot by teen friend who didn’t know his friend was trying to wake him up. DECEASED.
  32. GA 9yo shoots self in finger after finding gun in mom’s bedroom.

  34. UT 4yo boy accidentally shot by 3yo brother with shotgun at grandad’s house.

  3. AR 14yo playing with pistol shot & killed 19 yo friend. DECEASED. 14 yo charged with Homicide.
