On September 21, 2015, the Violence Prevention Coalition of Greater Los Angeles held their Angel of Peace Awards. Our founder, Ann Reiss Lane, was presented with the Angel Award by L.A. City Attorney Mike Feuer, our partner and a huge advocate for gun violence prevention. Mr. Feuer praised Ann for over 20 years of advocacy and legislation work, and called her “the most important voice in legislation and gun violence prevention in the city of Los Angeles.” Ann’s Angel award itself is a sculpture of an angel created by artist Lin Evola and made from melted down guns.
Los Angeles City Attorney Mike Feuer had this to say about Ann: “The lives you’ve saved, the communities you’ve helped, the legislation you’ve championed, the alliances you’ve fostered, the conversation you’ve spurred, the passion for gun violence prevention you’ve ignited in so many others, the difference you’ve made. All enduring. All immeasurable. Congratulations on your extraordinary commitment to ending gun violence. All of us in the L.A. City Attorney’s Office are so honored to be able to call you our friend and steadfast partner in our ongoing efforts to curb gun violence.“
