Department of Public Social Services – Medi-Cal Outreach Team

DPSS is one of 36 County departments and serves over 10 million residents in a county larger in population than 42 states, encompassing 88 cities.  They provide information on health care programs and services that are available to residents of Los Angeles County.  There are health programs to cover the needs of everyone regardless of age, race, or immigration status.  They have programs for children and youth, pregnant women, families, seniors, persons with disabilities, and single adults.

Didi Hirsch Mental Health Services

Didi Hirsch Mental Health Services has provided free mental health, substance use disorder and suicide prevention services since 1942. Dedicated to serving communities where stigma or poverty limits access, Didi Hirsch helps more than 120,000 children and adults from 10 locations and 100 schools throughout Los Angeles and Orange counties each year.

GRYD

The City of Los Angeles Mayor’s Office of Gang Reduction and Youth Development (GRYD) was established in July of 2007 to address gang violence in a comprehensive and coordinated way throughout the City.    GRYD currently provides gang intervention and prevention services in 23 GRYD Zones throughout the City of Los Angeles, along with regional juvenile reentry services, community engagement programming, and various other initiatives.

LA County Department of Public Health Injury and Violence Prevention Program

The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health Injury & Violence Prevention Program (IVPP) collaborates with community and county partners to support the prevention of violence (suicide, homicide, intimate partner violence) and unintentional injuries (motor vehicle collisions, falls, unintentional overdoses).  IVPP regularly monitors the occurrence of injuries and deaths among the residents of Los Angeles County, provides health education through presentations and provides technical assistance and evaluation support for partners. IVPP’s key programs include the Child Passenger Safety Program, the Los Angeles County Violent Death Reporting System, support for Parks After Dark, and the Trauma Prevention Initiative. The goal of IVPP is to reduce the leading causes of injury related death and disability for Los Angeles County and promote the well-being, health and safety of individuals and communities.

Los Angeles City Victim Assistance Program

The Los Angeles City Attorney’s Victim Assistance Program has a team of specially trained advocates who work with victims, witnesses, and their families throughout and beyond the criminal justice process. “It is our mission to compassionately and effectively protect the rights of victims while providing services that meet the unique needs of those impacted by crime. Through crisis intervention, advocacy, information and referral, the goal is to help alleviate the psychological and emotional trauma incurred from victimization. Our aim is to also facilitate the victims’, survivors’, and witnesses’ recovery and ability to actively participate in the criminal justice system.”

Loved Ones Victims Services

LOVS was founded in 1985 as a support group to help one another with the grief and trauma associated with homicide.  LOVS provides counseling, support, and experience in helping people who have suffered loss to find the strength to cope and move through the trauma.  In recent years, LOVS has focused on addressing the cycle of violence in the Los Angeles area through intervention and prevention programs aimed at supporting the co-victims of violent crime. “With the commitment of governmental agencies and private/corporate sponsorship, our outreach programs continue to provide and expand the specialty resources needed by our clients and the community.”
